I thought we all took a vote prior to the World Cup that once Team USA got booted from the tournament, we would all not care about soccer for another four years. Not showing any real emotion once we get eliminated angersĀ  football fans from other countries who have a perceived inferiority complex towards the United States. This is the same country that jokingly printed “USA Wins” after forcing a draw against England in the opening match of this year’s World Cup.

This is how America truly feels about the "world's sport"

Don’t get me wrong, we want our team to do well. The second the United States wins a World Cup, I am sure a ticker tape parade in New York City awaits the fellas once they return home. We just don’t care enough to be hurt by a loss. (Neither should anyone else for that matter.)

Unfortunately, this one New Yorker didn’t get the memo on how Americans are not supposed to care about the sport once the clock strikes 12 on our Cinderella ride.
